A booming Midlands property market is attracting property developers and high-profile hires

New-build house prices in the West Midlands have increased by 11.5% in the last three years alone, with the East Midlands enjoying an even more considerable increase at 13.4%. With such a buoyant housing market, the Midlands has become a strong area of focus for many property developers.

North East based property developer, StripeHomes, is one of them and has continued to expand their area of UK operations with a particular focus on the Midlands, appointing Stephen Corbett as their new commercial director to lead this expansion.

StripeHomes has built a strong reputation for delivering high quality residential and build-to-rent developments across the UK, with a particular focus on the North East.

StripeHomes has now set its sights on the Midlands, but unlike many big housebuilders, the primary objective of the company’s move to the region is to deliver more affordable housing.

James Forrester, managing director of StripeHomes, commented:

“The property market in the Midlands has been robust despite ongoing political and economic uncertainty. As a result, house prices have climbed at a far greater rate than most regions.

While concentrating our expansion within the Midlands makes good sense from a business perspective, we also wanted to ensure that given this sharp increase in property values, increasing the level of affordable housing for local homebuyers was the driving factor behind our expansion.”

Stephen joins StripeHomes to lead the company’s development opportunities in the Midlands, as well as support managing director James Forrester with opportunities in the North East.

Having also worked in the UK property industry for over two decades, Stephen joins from Willmott Dixon where he spent the last 10 years supporting the growth of the residential divisions.

Stephen Corbett, commercial director for StripeHomes, commented::

“I’ve seen the significant impact StripeHomes has made in the North East with a conscious focus on delivering developments that bring a broader benefit to the area and the local community rather than merely providing more housing.

I’m really excited to get started and help StripeHomes become a key player in building affordable homes in the Midlands & North East.

StripeHomes is an exciting business that is looking to bring something different to the housing market with real consideration for first time buyers looking to secure their first homes. This is something we need in the Midlands considering the enormous house price growth of the last few years.”
